Citiraya Industries Ltd has invested US$65 million in China to recycle IT waste, including used computer screens, mainboards, chips, handsets and TV sets.
The IT recycling plant is located in eastern China's Wuxi city and will start operation by the end of the year.
The plant can dispose of up to 60,000 tons of IT waste annually.
It claims to be the first electronics-recycling center in China's mainland and is expected to alleviate the environmental impact of huge amount of thrown away obsolete electronic equipment.
The company is also establishing a recycling network in several major Chinese cities. (CRI March 23, 2004)
