The Tibetan Autonomous Region in southwest China has invested some 47 million yuan, or nearly US$6 million to deal with urban unemployment. The local government has set up public employment agencies to help laid-off workers to find jobs.
Meanwhile, the government will make major efforts to develop the service industry and other labor-intensive industries so as to create more job opportunities.
Private economies are also encouraged to play a role in creating jobs.
