China didn't halt soybean imports from the United States to support its farmers and boost local prices, the American Soybean Association and traders said, denying an earlier report by the Financial Times.
According to Zhang Xiaoping, deputy director of the American Soybean Association, there is no official ban on imports. He said the pace of imports is faster than they expected, so the process for issuing import permits has been slowed down somewhat. No shipments from the United States have been affected, Zhang added.
