China's tourism and health departments jointly issued a notice here Wednesday outlining detailed measures about the prevention and treatment of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).
According to the notice, travel agencies will do more sterilization work and increase SARS-related education for employees.
All tourist guides will be required to recognize the symptoms of SARS and take precautionary measures. They will remind tourists of health protection and decide whether or not masks should be worn.
Detailed records on every tourist group will be maintained in the event that cases or suspected cases are discovered.
Hotels should also strengthen sanitary work, especially in guest-rooms, dining areas, meeting rooms and lifts.
All scenic spots, restaurants and tourist vehicle companies should disinfect tourist facilities, according to the notice.
