The Tianjin Saixiang Technology Co. Ltd (TST), based in the north China port city, has signed contracts to supply production equipment for truck radial ply tyres for 86 factories worldwide of France's tyre giant Michelin.
TST is the designated supplier of the molding equipment for high-capacity radial-type tyres for Michelin, one of the world's largest tyre manufacturers. It is also the first time Michelin has taken overseas orders for complete sets of equipment.
Under the contracts, which cover the next three years, the first shipment of TST equipment to France will take place this August.
TST, a high-tech developer of advanced radial tyre makers, is the country's leading rubber-plastic machinery industry.
The company has been engaged in 13 of the 36 projects on the development and production of equipment for making lorry tyres and engineering radial tyres, which are listed among the nation's key technology-innovation items for the tenth Five-Year plan from 2001to 2005.
TST's products have so far replaced some of the country's traditional imports and helped usher in a great change to its radial-type tyre industry, which relied totally on imports in the past.
