Leading world car maker, General Motors (GM), officially put the new Vectra, in its Opel family of mid-sized sedans, on the Chinese market Wednesday in Shanghai, the largest metropolis of east China.
The introduction of the Vectra to China less than one year after its debut in the global market indicates the auto giant's confidence in the Chinese market, according to company officials.
The 147-hp, 2.2-liter model features both manual and automatic transmission, catering for the emerging urban middle-class consumers in the country.
To ensure its market share on the Chinese auto market amid fierce competition, GM will not only provide local consumers with more choices, but also introduce its latest, state-of-the-art products, said Phil Murtaugh, chairman and CEO of GM China, at the Vectra's debut Wednesday.
