Imports and Exports by Processing Trade Exceeding US$300 Billion in 2002
Total value of imports and exports by Processing Trade in China were of US$302.17 billion, up by 25.2 percent, accounting for nearly 50 percent of the national total value of imports and exports, according to the latest statistics of General Customs Administration of PRC.

Of which, exports were of US$180 billion, up by 22 percent; imports US$120 billion, up by 30 percent; accumulated trade surplus US$57.7 billion.

According to a Customs' briefing, imports by processing trade were principally from neighboring countries and regions, principal exports markets were USA, Japan and European Union.

Statistics show that suppliers for the processing trade of China were, in sequence of order, Japan, Taiwan, ASEAN and ROK. The four suppliers accounted for 65 percent of total value of imports by the processing trade.
