Electricity Output to Grow
China will produce 6.7 percent more electricity this year to meet an expected increase in demand from factories and households, the government said.

China, the world's second-largest energy user, will generate 1,750 billion kilowatt-hours of power in 2003 as the country's economy is expected to grow 7 percent, the State Economic & Trade Commission said in a report. China's hydropower plants may generate less electricity this year as drought cuts water flow during the dry season, it said.
