Statistics from Xi'an customs show that the foreign trade value of Shanxi province in 2002 reached US$2.225 billion with a growth of 7.89% over the previous year.
The export value amounted to US$1.377 billion with the import value of US$0.848 billion, increased by 24.09% and 10.89% respectively.
In 2002, the whole value on import and export trade of state-owned enterprises in Shanxi came to US$1.643 billion with the export value of US$1.155 billion, increased by 1.22% and 20.47% respectively compared with last year.
As far as foreign funded enterprises are concerned, the whole value on import and export trade came to US$0.404 billion with an increase of 10.35%, the export value grew 5.78% to US$0.115 billion. Regarding to private enterprises, the annual value on foreign trade kept an rapid increase, up to US$0.162 billion, of which the export value occupied US$0.105 billion with a growth of 173.97%.
In 2002, the foreign trade value in general trade reached US$1.867, a rise of 7.07 percent year-on-year, the export increased by 25.76% to US$1.1172. In processing trade, the whole foreign trade value was US$296 million, accounting for 13.3 percent of the total value of the province, the export value amounted to US$0.194 billion, a rise of 14.83 percent over the previous year.
Last year, Shanxi province exported to Netherlands with the highest increase, i.e. 55.22%, the export value topped US$940.3 million. Export to America and Korea kept steady growth with an increased of 7.81% to US$106 million to Hong Kong but decreased by 3.22% to Japan.
