In November, retail sales in China surged 9.1 percent over the same month last year to reach 373.31 billion yuan (US$45.14 billion), according to official figures.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said Monday that retail sales in urban areas for November rose 10.4 percent year-on-year to 234.46 billion yuan while retail sales in rural areas grew 7 percent, reaching 138.85 billion yuan.
The NBS attributed the rapid growth of retail sales to the sustained growth of the economy, surges in sales of housing and automobiles and rising sales of seasonal winter goods.
