China's First Auto Works (FAW), dubbed as the "cradle of China's auto industry", will make over 500,000 automobiles this year, with the "Red Flag" auto rolling off the production line on Monday in this capital of northeast China's Jilin Province.
The "Red Flag" is the five hundred thousandth auto produced by FAW, making FAW China's top auto producer with an annual production capacity of over 500,000 autos.
Xu Jianyi, vice manager of FAW, told Xinhua that with the "Red Flag" rolling off the production line, China's automakers have reached a new level, a key breakthrough for FAW, a company that already makes and sells 400,000 automobiles annually.
The establishment of the FAW manufacturing plant in 1953 marked the birth of China's auto industry.
