World's Largest Adventureland to Dock in Hong Kong
Walt Disney executives unveiled Wednesday part of the designs for the Hong Kong Disneyland, which will be the fifth Disneyland theme park in the world and home to the largest Adventureland.

Hong Kong Walt Disney, planned for Penny's Bay on Lantau Island and scheduled to open in June, 2005, claims to be the first to follow the blueprint of the original Disneyland in California, including its Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Covering an area of 126 hectares, the park comprises of Fantasyland, Adventureland and Tomorrowland, their construction will begin early next year.

Tom Morris, vice president and executive producer in charge of the Hong Kong Disneyland, noted the Adventureland will be a thrilling journey to exotic and enhancing realms of "exploration, adventure and discovery".

"The Hong Kong Disneyland will have the largest Adventureland of all our Disneyland parks worldwide," according to Morris.

He said, "This is a place in the park where guests can really get involved around water and can feel the rush of an active river, erupting geysers and beautiful waterfalls. Adventureland is an escape into the remote jungles of Asia and Africa."

Speaking about the Tomorrowland, its executive designer, Tim Delaney pointed out that it is the part of the Disneyland that changes most from park to park as it presents something "out of this world" with a unique look.

He explained that the Tomorrowland will be a world filled with science fiction and fantasy in soaring space adventures. "This Tomorrowland has a completely new look and feel than any of our other parks. Every attraction, shop and restaurant becomes a part of spaceport filled with robots, rocket ships, floating planets and space beacons."

The Hong Kong Disneyland Project was announced in November 1999as a venture between the Walt Disney Company and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.
