HK Launches Postal Remittance Service with Canada
Hong Kong Postmaster General Luk Ping-chuen announced Thursday that a reciprocal postal remittance service between Hong Kong and Canada would be launched with effect from Sept. 2, 2002.

Under the new service, customers will be able to remit up to 7,000 Canadian dollars to recipients in Canada, who can cash such remittance orders in over 7,500 post offices throughout Canada. Likewise, customers in Canada can remit up to 35,000 Hong Kong dollars to recipients in Hong Kong.

"For the convenience of our customers, the service will be available at all post offices including 3 mobile post offices," said Luk.

"The new service will provide an economical and simple way for the public to send money to their friends and families in Canada in the coming festive seasons such as Mid-Autumn Festival and Christmas. The continuous expansion of our service has illustrated the commitment and effort of Hong Kong Post in providing better quality of service and greater convenience to our customers," Luk remarked.
