OBI (China) Management System Co. Ltd. said yesterday it will purchase goods in China for two 20,000-square-meter construction material and garden decoration product hypermarkets in Moscow.
The hypermarkets, operated by Germany-based OBI Heimwerkermaerkte AG, are expected to open in the second half of 2003. The German company plans to move its Asian procurement center from Hong Kong to Shanghai in three years, since the product price is 50 percent lower than Europe's. OBI bought products worth US$244 million on the Chinese mainland during the past year.
