Tata Consultancy Service, the biggest software exporter in India, has set up its first branch in Pudong District of Shanghai, China's leading business and industrial center.
The branch, Tata Information Technology (Shanghai) Co, will serve as the Indian company's China headquarters, overseeing operations in Shanghai, Beijing, and Hangzhou in east China's Zhejiang province.
The company will look for Chinese partners in developing software products for the financial, securities, insurance and telecommunications sectors.
A senior executive from the Indian company said Tata's Beijing company would provide support for its business clients in northernChina. Tata also plans to establish a large research and development center in Hangzhou.
Tata expects to take advantage of the increasing market opportunities in China and global demand for information technology.
