Vehicle sales in China rose 22 percent in the first four months of 2002 when compared to the same period from the previous year earlier, Bloomberg News reported. Sales climbed to 982,186 vehicles from 803,101. Also in the first four months, 983,076 vehicles were made in China, 24 percent more than in the same period a year earlier. Chinese automakers in April sold a total of 339,553 vehicles. Heavy-truck sales gained most, doubling to 87,907. Passenger-car sales rose 28 percent to 288,476 from 224,821 a year earlier.
