The Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp, China's leading car producer, has recently set up the country's biggest auto light development and research center in cooperation with Japan Koito Manufacturing Co.
Covering 12,500 square meters, the 100 million yuan Shanghai center is capable of producing a great variety of auto lights in varying batches.
The new R&D center is based at Shanghai Koito Automotive Lamp Co, a joint venture between Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp and Japan Koito Manufacturing Co. The joint venture has developed a good variety of lights for locally produced Buick, Santana 2000, Polo over the last few years.
Its sales volume totaled 700 million yuan last year. The auto industry is one of the pillar industries in Shanghai, the biggest industrial and commercial center in China.
