Called the biggest shopping mall in Asia, the Chia Tai Square opened this week amid the hubbub of the APEC activities in China's economic kingpin Shanghai.
Covering an area of 240,000 square meters, the mall was built at a total cost of US$335 million.
Located in the Lujiazui financial center of Pudong across the Huangpu River, the building is a new addition to the center's skyscrapers such as 420-meter Jinmao Tower, the world's third-tallest building, and the Oriental TV Tower.
Funded by the Chia Tai Group of Thailand, the mall integrates western and eastern architectural styles.
