Volvo Wins 2,000 Bus Order

Swedish vehicles maker Volvo said Friday it had signed a deal to deliver 2,000 buses to Shanghai's largest transport firm, its biggest bus order to date.

The company, which is the world's second-biggest truck maker and also produces buses, aircraft and boat engines, won the order for B6R city buses from Shanghai Bashi Industrial Co., its main customer in China. Volvo would not give a value for the deal. The bus is a small model, measuring 10.5 meters, and analysts said the order was likely to be worth around one billion Swedish crowns (US$125.1 million).
