A total of 925 brands in China have been conferred the title of "famous Chinese brand", sources with the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine announced recently at a relevant seminar.
The administration also named three brands from two Chinese corporations "world famous."
China started its appraisal work on famous-brand products in 2001, in an attempt to push forward the balanced development of the regional economy.
According to a survey of 121 famous brands this year, the sales volume of these products soared 50.73 percent on average from 2002 to 2004, with exports jumping 85.74 percent.
In southeastern China's Fujian Province, the number of enterprises producing famous-brand products only accounts for 5 percent of the total, but the total sales volume and export volume accounts for 32 and 24 percent of the total.
In eastern China's Jiangsu Province, the number of enterprises producing famous-brand products only accounts for 4 percent of the total, but their sales volume and export volume account for 25 and 20 percent of the total.
The Haier refrigerator and Huawei program-controlled exchange, two products named "world's famous brand in China," have witnessed their sales volume in the international market top others for years.
