2005 China-Europe Economic and Trade Summit opened in Shenyang, capital city of northeast China's Liaoning Province, Thursday.
With the theme of "Win-win Cooperation," the summit attracted more than 600 people including government officials and noted business people from China and European countries such as Germany, Britain, the Netherlands and Luxemburg, and CEOs of world renowned multinational corporations.
Participants to the summit will discuss such topics as the roles of China and European Union in global economic development, rejuvenation of northeast China -- an old industrial base, transfer of European industries, partnership between China and Europe, and future global economic structure.
The first China-Europe Economic Summit was held in Hamburg of Germany in November of last year. This was renamed as China-Europe Economic and Trade Summit this year.
The reason that Shenyang was chosen as the venue of this year's summit is that many European countries are interested in China's strategy to rejuvenate its northeast rusty industrial belt.
Special lectures on topics such as trend of value of Chinese currency RMB yuan, the influence of Chinese economy on Asia and sustainable development of Chinese economy will also be delivered during the current summit.
