Statistics from Customs show that in the first quarter of 2005, a total of 840 Chinese enterprises engaged in automobile export, an increase of 110 percent year-on-year, according to report by Beijing Morning Post.
However, only two of them, the China First Automobile Group Import & Export Corporation and the following Great Wall Motor Company Limited, realized an export value of US$10 million.
In the year 2004, 1,114 Chinese enterprises conducted auto export, 58 percent more than in 2003. Exports topped US$20 million in six companies. The top five are China First Automobile Group Import & Export Corporation, Hafei Motor Co., Ltd. Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd., Chery Automobile and Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd.
11 companies realized exports between US$10 million and US$20 million and 45 companies between US$3 million and US$10 million.
