China witnessed a year-on-year economic growth of 8.1 percent in the first quarter this year, the National Bureau of Statistics announced in Beijing Tuesday.
The growth rate was 0.7 percentage points higher than in the fourth quarter last year.
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) totaled 1,979.5 billion yuan during the period, the bureau said.
