TCL Communication Technology Holdings Limited (TCL Communication), one of the leading mobile phone manufacturers in the Chinese mainland, announced Sunday its issuance of the listing document for the introduction on the main board of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx).
The listing of TCL Communication on the HKEx is by way of introduction and dealings in the shares on the main board are expected to commence on September 27, 2004.
TCL Communication is a leading manufacturer of the Chinese mainland's mobile phone industry. The group is engaged in the design, manufacturing and marketing of a wide range of mobile phones with various levels of value-added features.
In 2003, the group sold a total of 9.8 million mobile phones in the Chinese mainland with a total net sales 9.6 billion yuan (US$1.15 billion) and ranked second in the Chinese mainland in terms of sales volume.
TCL Communication is a subsidiary of TCL Corporation, a major Chinese mainland telecommunications producer that designs, manufactures and markets a wide range of electronic, telecommunications, information technology products.
Li Dongsheng, chairman of the group, said TCL Communication is a leading producer in the Chinese mainland mobile phone industry. With the newly established Sino-foreign joint venture -- TCl- Alcatel Mobile Phones Limited, the group will strive to expand its distribution network to more than 50 countries.
Alcatel is believed to be a world leader in telecommunications equipment, applications and services, and sold 7.7 million mobile phones in 2003 in nearly 50 countries.
