Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and US Secretary of State Colin Powell exchanged views over the phone Friday evening on the second round of the six-party talks in Beijing and other issues, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
No details of the phone conversation were disclosed.
The talks, involving China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the United States, the Republic of Korea, Russia and Japan, started Wednesday in a bid to resolve the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula.
Powell was reported as saying earlier in Washington that the meetings during the six-party talks so far had displayed a "promising attitude."
