A policeman from Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau (BMPSB) was killed by a gang in Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi Province on May 4. All eleven suspects had been arrested by May 6.
The victim's family were traveling in Shanxi during May Day holiday. The victm drove his car to Taiyuan to meet his wife. When the victim waited at traffic lights he had a quarrel with a driver, whose car was listed as Hu. D27610.
Around eight clock of the same day, when victim and his family went back to Tangdu Hotel in Taiyuan, the tragedy happened. A gang of roughs with sticks and iron bars were waiting for them.
They struck the victim until he lost consciousness and left him for dead. The victim was sent to hospital, however he died early the next day from his injuries.
The victims family were particularly distressed that of the crowd of witnesses, no one attempted to contact the emergency services.
The main suspect is a policeman from Taiyuan Municipal Public Security Bureau.
The victim, named Li, worked in Chaoyang District Public Security Bureau.
"Li was a friendly person, and had been awarded the second-class merit in public security system," a family member of the victim told reporters.
"Why didn't the victim's family tackle the gang at the scene and what caused the tragedy?" Beijing Today asked police in Chaoyang. Staff from the media department couldn't give any answers. The case now is under further investigation by local police.
