China: World's Second Largest Spammer

China has become the world's second largest source of spam, following only the United States.

The Internet Society of China's anti-spam team acknowledged on Wednesday that 180 of 400 IP addresses blocked by the International Anti-Spam Organization in November 2004 were Chinese, according to a report in the China Business Times.

Another 80 Chinese IP addresses were blocked from the beginning of December to December 19.

However, China's spambusters say that the US, which generates 42.1 percent of all spam, is the main culprit in this global problem. They believe that too many Chinese IP addresses have been blocked by international organizations, with an adverse impact on normal e-mail delivery.
