Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao joined with children to watch an art performance in Beijing Saturday afternoon to celebrate the June 1 International Children's Day and gave festival greetings to Chinese children and their teachers.
More than 100 children of rural laborers studying in Beijing were specially invited to the performance, themed "Sunshine, innocent minds of children, the four seasons."
After the performance, Wen and other government officials had a group photo taken with the performers and the children of the rural laborers, and he personally handed schoolbags, stationery and books to the rural children.
Wen said the theme of the performance reflected the hope placed on children. He called on every father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, uncle and aunt to shoulder responsibility for children's education.
He also extended his wish that all children would realize their dreams through efforts.
