Jiang Zemin, chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), and Hu Jintao, CMC vice chairman, visited the China International Logistics and Transport Exhibition (2004 China Logistics) on Wednesday.
CMC vice chairmen Guo Boxiong and Cao Gangchuan, members Xu Caihou, Liang Guanglie, Liao Xilong and Li Jinai, as well as Liu Qi, secretary of Beijing's municipal committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and Mayor Wang Qishan accompanied the top military leaders during the visit.
Jiang and Hu inquired about the equipment on display and urged the Chinese defense industry to learn advanced technology from their foreign counterparts to enhance the technical level of the country's military logistics equipment.
The exhibition, co-sponsored by the General Logistics Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the Beijing Branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, is being held in the Beijing Exhibition Hall. More than 170 foreign companies from 26 foreign countries have joined the 140-plus domestic firms in displaying some 1,700 exhibits.
The first China Logistics took place in 1987 and three others have since been held since then.
