Ministry of Health Press Release (June 4) on SARS
The Press Office under the Ministry of Health published Wednesday afternoon a press release on the latest SARS situation on the Chinese mainland.

From 10:00 am June 3 to 10:00 am June 4, the Chinese mainland reported no new SARS case, 116 patients recovered and no death. Patients recovered included 74 from Beijing, 11 from Tianjin, 10 from Hebei, 9 from Inner Mongolia, 6 from Shanxi, 2 each from Jiangsu and Guangdong, and 1 each from Jilin and Gansu.

From 10:00 am June 3 to 10:00 am June 4, the Chinese mainland reported 4 new suspected cases, of which 2 were from Beijing, and 1 each from Guangdong and Sichuan.

From 10:00 am June 3 to 10:00 am June 4, the Chinese mainland also reported 25 misdiagnosed suspected cases, of which 8 were from Beijing, 7 from Inner Mongolia, 4 from Guangdong, 3 from Shanxi, 1 each from Hebei, Liaoning and Fujian. By 10:00 am June 4, the Chinese mainland had a total of 908 suspected cases.

From 10:00 am May 16 to 10:00 am June 4, the Chinese mainland reported a total of 268 diagnosed SARS cases (including 63 new diagnosed cases and 205 patients who used to be suspected cases).

Of these figures,

Beijing reported 44 new diagnosed cases and confirmed 146 suspected cases as SARS patients

Hebei reported 6 new diagnosed cases and confirmed 27 suspected cases as SARS patients

Shanxi reported 4 new diagnosed cases and confirmed 8 suspected cases as SARS patients

Guangdong reported 4 new diagnosed cases

Tianjin reported 2 new diagnosed cases and confirmed 2 suspected cases as SARS patients

Guangxi reported 2 new diagnosed cases

Jilin reported 1 new diagnosed cases and confirmed 2 suspected cases as SARS patients

Inner Mongolia reported no new diagnosed case but confirmed 11 suspected cases as SARS patients

Liaoning reported no new diagnosed case but confirmed 4 suspected cases as SARS cases

Sichuan reported no new diagnosed case but confirmed 3 suspected cases as SARS cases

Shanghai and Hubei reported no new diagnosed case but each confirmed 1 suspected case as SARS case

Now 1,321 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals.

According to the statistics standard of WHO, by 10:00 am June 4, 12 provinces on the Chinese mainland had reported SARS cases. Tianjin, Jilin, Guangdong and Guangxi had reported no new diagnosed case for more than 15 days, Hubei, Shanghai and Sichuan had reported no new case for more than 10 days, Shanxi and Inner Mongolia had reported no new diagnosed case for 9 days, and Hebei had reported no new case for 6 days.
