A World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) summit is scheduled to be held in Beijing from April 24 to 26.
The summit, organized by the WIPO and hosted by the Chinese government, is expected to focus on the theme of "Intellectual Property (IP) and the Knowledge Economy", and will be attended by foreign heads of state and government leaders, ranking officials' delegations, and the business leaders of renowned companies around the world.
A press center is to be set up in the Beijing International Convention Center to facilitate press coverage.
Regarding the application process for journalists, those from Hong Kong and Macao may contact the local Liaison Offices of the Central People's Government.
Journalists from Taiwan should apply to the Taiwan Affairs Office under the Chinese State Council.
Resident overseas journalists in Beijing should apply to the Information Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Foreign journalists who desire to come to China for the summit coverage should register with the WIPO and apply to the embassies and consulates of China.
The registration form for journalists can be downloaded from the website "www.wiposummit.org", and the deadline for applications is April 18.
