Chinese Vice President Hu Jintao will meet with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and World Bank president James Wolfensohn during his path-breaking trip to the United States, a foreign ministry official announced Thursday.
"Hu will meet with leaders of some international organizations, for example the UN secretary general and Mr. Wolfensohn of the World Bank," ministry spokesman Kong Quan told reporters at a routine briefing.
Hu is due to arrive in the United States for a week-long visit on Saturday.
The 59-year-old Hu is also scheduled to meet with US President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.
He is expected to arrive in New York on Sunday following a stop-over in Honolulu, Hawaii and will proceed to Washington on Tuesday.
The visit will be Hu's first to the United States since he was named in 1992 to the communist party's Politburo Standing Committee.
Hu is presently on a visit to Malaysia and will proceed on to Singapore on Friday. He will then visit the United States from April 27 to May 3 at the invitation of US Vice-President Dick Cheney.
