Mudflows, Landslides Kill 5 in Southwest China
Mudflows and landslides, caused by rainstorms, killed five miners and injured six in southwestern China's Sichuan Province from July 27-29.

The calamities occurred in the Yinchanggou area in Pingwu County, Sichuan, which is a highland area with an altitude of 2, 600 meters and above.

Over 40 mudflows and landslides occurred in the area, damaging six huts dwelt by local miners.

Local government sent rescue teams to the site shortly after the mishaps occurred and Governor Zhang Zhongzhi has instructed to send more officials to the county.

All the injured have been treated and are no longer in danger.

The provincial government has issued a circular ordering all local governments to help prevent natural calamities during the flooding season.
