Hair samples obtained from Noriko Sakai have indicated that Japanese entertainer Noriko Sakai has tested positive for drug use, yule.com reports.
The results of the new test came after the pop star had previously tested negative when police conducted a urine test earlier this month, according to Japanese media reports. But because the results were a weak positive, the police will continue to conduct tests to determine Sakai's drug history and doses.
Sakai reportedly told the police she was induced by her husband to take illegal drugs last summer and that she had only used them about 10 times. That contradicted a statement by her husband, Yuichi Takaso, who said the couple began to use illegal drugs four years ago.
Yuichi Takaso, 41, was arrested for allegedly possessing illegal stimulants on August 3. The singer-actress was first found missing after her husband's arrest, but turned herself into the authorities a week later.
Noriko Sakai, 38, enjoyed great pan-Asia popularity, particularly during the 1980s and 1990s.
