XDR Culture and Communication Co's New Year Performance Season at Poly Theater features an all-Russian program of ballets, concerts and folkdances.

On Jan 26, the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra will give a concert to celebrate Spring Festival.

Under the baton of Nikolay Sokolov, the orchestra will play Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, Borodin's Polonaise, Bizet's Carmen and Strauss' Blue Danube.

Founded in 1992, the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra is deeply rooted in Russia's rich musical traditions and has developed an impressive musical quality.

It recruits musicians from the top ranks of Russia's most famous orchestras, such as the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Russian National Orchestra and the State Symphony Orchestra.

It was originally formed as a recording ensemble and has gone on to receive great acclaim for its concert performances.

In addition to regular recordings for leading international companies, the orchestra has toured such places as Turkey, Austria, Germany, China and Finland.

In 2006, the orchestra won a Gramophone Award for its recording of Shostakovich on Deutsche Grammophon.
