5. Iron Man

Iron Man , Hollywood's 2008 summer blockbuster, shows us how cool a man can be. Like Bruce Wayne in Christopher Nolan's Batman movies, Tony Stark has no superpowers and is incredibly rich. But the latter does not have a self-censured past. He enjoys being a superhero. He is a solid playboy who with a few witty words can easily lure a beautiful woman to his bed. But the experience of being captured by terrorists in what turns out to be a conspiracy brings a dramatic turnaround in his life.

First and coolest of all, he invents a bullet- and missile-proof armor that can fly at supersonic speed. Second, but more importantly, he rethinks his life. He even suspends his corporation's business as a weapons manufacturer in search of beneficial applications for military technologies. These significant changes of character give this comic-book movie soul and lift it to a new level.

Robert Downey Jr. puts his heart into his character, Tony Stark. His genuine humor and charm make the character so believable that you could end up thinking Mr. Downey is actually Tony Stark. The special effects are also very impressive. In particular the iron armor, from cladding the character to transporting him high in the air, delivers such a thrill to the audience that you could end up shouting out loud. So it is not surprising that the movie has raked in nearly US$600 million worldwide, grossing more than 100 million yuan (about US$15 million) in ticket sales in China, among the country's highest grossing releases.
