Ten years after "Nessun dorma" resounded in the Forbidden City, opera lovers will be able to see Puccini's "Turandot" in another Beijing landmark building, the Bird's Nest.
Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou will mount "Turandot" in the National Stadium next summer to mark the one year anniversary of the Beijing Olympic Games, Star Daily reported on Wednesday.
Zhang Yimou was the director of the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony.
The three-night show, tentatively slated for August 7, 8 and 9, will be also backed by the production team of the opening ceremony.
For one night only, an all-Chinese cast will perform the opera. And on the other two nights, international "stars" will be invited, according to the event organizer.
