China's top political advisory body opened its annual traditional Chinese painting show here on Tuesday, with the aim of promoting cultural traditions.
Jia Qinglin, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, the country's top political advisory body, attended the opening ceremony and viewed the works by 10 artists from the eastern province of Jiangxi, such as Ding Shibi and Cai Chao.
"Traditional paintings are shining pearls of Chinese civilization," CPPCC National Committee Vice Chairman Zheng Wantong said in his address to the opening ceremony.
Since 2002, the CPPCC National Committee has held 14 traditional Chinese painting shows, with each featuring the history and scenery of a specific region.
