U.S. actress and singer Jennifer Hudson is engaged to reality TV star David Otunga, better known as "Punk," according to U.S. media reports Monday.
"I can confirm that Jennifer got engaged to her boyfriend David on Friday night in L.A.," the singer's representative told the People magazine.
At the "Dreamgirls" star's 27th birthday, Otunga proposed, one knee down, with a Neil Lane diamond ring. The former lawyer and 2006 Harvard Law School grad is best-known as "Punk" from reality TV show "I Love New York 2."
Hudson first gained notice as one of the finalists on the third season of the FOX television series "American Idol."
She shot to fame after starring as Effie White in the 2006 movie "Dreamgirls." She won numerous awards for her role in the film, including an Academy Award; a Golden Globe Award; a BAFTA and a SAG Award.
The couple, who have been dating less than a year, were both born in Chicago.
