Many Chinese celebrities attended the opening of the long-awaited Broadway musical "The Lion King" at the Taipei Arena on Saturday.

Among the big names who made it to the show were Michael Wong, Nicky Wu, as well as Barbie Hsu and her little sister Dee Hsu, who showed up along with her husband and daughter, Tungstar.com reported.

Adapted from Disney's 1994 animated film of the same name, the musical features dancing, puppetry and acting that transport the audience to the African savanna as the story of the lion Simba unfolds.

About 200 staffers from Europe, America, Australia and Africa have worked on the musical, Tungstar.com said.
