Taiwan rock singer-songwriter Chang Chen Yue has been chosen as the first Chinese musician to be featured in the MTV Live series, Chinese media reported on Monday.
Chang will stage a full-on concert on August 23 in Taipei. MTV will record the show and edit it for an exclusive edition for MTV Live, a program that usually presents live performances by A-list artists, Web site Sina.com.cn says.
This will be MTV Live's first cooperation with a Chinese musician, the report says. Previously featured artists include Chamillionaire, Eve and 50 Cent.
Supporting Chang Chen Yue at his gig will be his band Free 9. Chang said on Monday at a press conference for the concert that their performance would focus on live jams rather than costumes or stage effects.
Last year, Chang Chen Yue was among the first batch of Chinese musicians playing for MTV's Unplugged, a series highlighting acoustic performances.
