China Central Television's "Weather Forecast" program will welcome two new hosts in the coming days, the Beijing Times reported on Tuesday.

The new anchorwoman, Wang Lanyi, will appear in the program this Wednesday, and anchorman Feng Shu will soon join her. Both of them have practiced on other CCTV meteorological programs for several months.

CCTV began the "Weather Forecast" after the primetime news on July 1, 1981. The program has featured four hosts, Song Yingjie, Zhao Hongyan, Pei Xinhua, and Yang Dan, since 1997.

Since weather forecasts must be timely and the show cannot be prerecorded, so high proficiency are required for the new hosts.

The new hosts will be tested during "actual combat," and the audience's response will decide their future, the report said.
