The classical ballet, "Swan Lake," made its debut in Hohhot, capital city of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, on Tuesday night.
This great performance by The Shanghai Ballet won enthusiastic applause from the audience and unveiled a cultural and arts week that celebrates the upcoming Beijing Olympics and, according to China National Radio's website, marks the 30th anniversary of reform and opening-up in Inner Mongolia.
The Shanghai Ballet, formally founded in 1979, has produced many young dancers that have excelled in competitions both at home and abroad.
And, to cap the success, Swan Lake will be followed by a Chinese-style ballet, "White-haired Girl," in the coming days.
