The 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics are celebrated by musicians from China and neighboring Russia. Sunday night witnessed an outstanding orchestral performance in the capital - "Sacred Light 2008".

It was an on-stage dialogue of music between Chinese and Russian musicians. The China National Orchestra was under the baton of Lin Tao, the celebrated conductor of the younger generation, of Russian classical music.

The orchestra delivered a vivid rendering of a concerto tailored for the Beijing Olympics by Tang Jianping. "Farewell, My Concubine", a symphonic fantasy incorporating Peking Opera arias by composer Guan Xia, offered the packed house a taste of traditional Chinese culture.
