The runner-up in the 2006 Super Girl singing competition, Tan Weiwei, led a group of performers in presenting her hometown culture in the musical "Jinsha" in Shanghai on Monday.

Chinese singer Tan Weiwei performs in the musical Jinsha in Shanghai on Monday, November 5, 2007.

In the opera, Sichuan native Tan takes part in a love tragedy that has lingered for thousands of years. There will be another performance on Tuesday as part of the ongoing Shanghai International Arts Festival.

The big-budget show debuted in 2005, with inspiration from the discovery of Jinsha, an archaeological site not far from Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province.

Relics unearthed at Jinsha are believed to showcase a flourishing ancient culture that dated back thousands of years.
