Former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan on Tuesday visited a
photo exhibition here featuring the lives of ordinary Chinese
people, saying he was excited.
Annan said the visit indeed excited him and some features in the
photos represented his own feelings towards China.
Annan's visit to the exhibition in Vienna International Center
(VIC) was accompanied by Tang Guoqiang, China's Permanent
Representative to the United Nations and other International
Organizations in Vienna.
Annan also spoke highly of the constructive role china plays in
the international affairs.
Before the visit, Annan attended a ceremony as the guest of
honor for naming the Kofi Annan Building for tower E of the
VIC.
Annan was on a visit to Vienna on Sept. 10-12 at the invitation
of the Government of Austria.
The photo exhibition – "Chinese people's life through
camera" – is aimed at reflecting the social and economic
development in China and the life, work, leisure and entertainment
of ordinary people. It also highlights the 5,000-year Chinese
civilization and the harmony among ethnic groups in China.
The exhibition, which opened on Monday, is jointly sponsored by
China's State Council Information Office and the Chinese delegation
to the United Nations and other International Organizations in
Vienna.
