Broadway musical comedy and two times Tony Award winner,
42nd Street, will tour seven Chinese cities from
September.
The musical, a story about young chorus girl, Peggy Sawyer, who
works her way up to become a Broadway star, will be staged 70 times
in Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Ningbo, Hefei, Wuhan and
Beijing.
"42nd Street shows that through diligence and
persistence people can turn their dreams into reality," said Chen
Jixin, chairwoman of the Nederlander New Century International
Theatre Management Company Ltd, which is bringing the show to
China.
Chen said that part of the ticket income would be donated to the
Soong Ching Ling Music Fund to support an exchange program between
Chinese and American youngsters.
