The People's Daily, the mouthpiece of the Communist Party of China (CPC), will publish a commentary Thursday stressing that the country's unity is in the "ultimate interests" of people of all ethnic groups.
"As a country of multiple ethnic groups, the idea of national unity is the basic foundation for the safety of all ethnic people, and it is also the great power that keeps Chinese civilization going on and on," the commentary says.
"In the face of ethnic separatists both in Tibet and Xinjiang, the Chinese government, people of all ethnic groups and overseas Chinese all showed their firm belief in unity, which is a common tradition that has developed over thousands of years," says the commentary.
It says more evidence is coming to light to show the July 5 riot was a serious criminal incident intentionally organized by hostile forces, indicating a very complicated political background.
The unrest in Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, has led to the deaths of at least 192 people. More than 1,680 were injured.
"The ultimate interest of Chinese nationality won't tolerate any violation, and the common will of 1.3 billion Chinese people will be as firm as always," the commentary adds.
