Earthquake hits northwest China

A 5.4-magnitude earthquake jolted northwestern Qinghai Province at 1:23 p.m. Wednesday, according to the China National Seismological Network.

The epicenter is located at 35.3 degrees north latitude and 91.2 degrees east longitude in Zhiduo county in Hol Xil Natural Reserve, southwestern part of the province, with an average altitude of 5,000 meters.

No report of casualty was available yet on this quake-hit area, which is home to Tibetan antelopes.
