67 pandas in the Chengdu reserve are now facing a shortage of food.

Panda expert Zhang Zhihe said, "Most of the bamboo is in quake hit areas. The quake damaged the roads,so that bamboo can no longer be transported. And in some areas, mudslides covered the bamboo growing areas."

Each panda requires at least 20 kilogram of bamboo a day. Though the bamboo growing at the Chengdu reserve can meet this demand, experts are worried about the supply in winter. The current supplies will only last 3 to 5 months.
